Description: Billfold wallet is a design inspired from vernacular moroccan portmonnaies. Its form is based on origami research and specifically a simple folding technique (pleat), which collapses a cube into a folded plane. The wallet features one main compartment for bills and coins along with two (credit) card slots in the back.The final design was selected through on the feedback loop of iterative modelling, prototyping and material testing. The product was developed as part of "Form of Good", an ongoing project led by Topotheque which aims to re-design everyday objects by introducing either a geometric or a topologic tranformation to each one of the platonic solids.

Billfold is fabricated by combining high tech machinery with traditional craftmanship. The raw material is calf leather which is manually processed and the cut and etched using a laser cutter, following a pattern that was developed in a way that minimizes waste.
